Confessions of a Shopaholic: Jacob Greifer

Jacob Greifer

Question 3

Becky talks about being able to determine a "need" from a "want" in Confessions of a Shopaholic. If you were advising Becky, how would you divide her "needs" from her "wants"? Make a 2 column list and identify her needs from her wants. Are there any items that could move from one column to another in order to better stabilize Becky's financial portfolio?

Needs
Work clothes
Food
Housing

Wants
Designer clothes
More than enough work clothes
Things to make her look good/rich

Question 5

Do you agree with how the movie ends? Is is realistic?

I don't agree with how the movie ends. Her selling all of her clothes wont cure her obsession, and it isn't the best solution. She still is losing a ton of money because she can't sell the retail prices on her old clothes. It's also unrealistic because nobody does this. Also the women who bought all the clothes were unrealistically crazy about it.

Question 4

How does Becky deal with Bill collectors callings? How could she have avoided the embarrassment of her employer finding out that she was in debt?

Becky deals with Bill collectors callings by ignoring them and hiding from him. When he calls her at work, she says he is her crazy ex-boyfriend who stalks her. She could have avoided the embarrassment of her employer finding out she was in debt by not making that lie up, paying the money before hand, and not being a shopaholic.
